DESIRE MACHINE
by Joaquim Castro, Lucas Weglinski
Brazil | 2021 | 110 min. | DCP - 16/9 - Color | English, Portuguese | Drama
Over six decades, Teatro Oficina has done more than revolutionize theatrical language in Brazil: the aesthetic influence of José Celso Martinez Corrêa's company extends from the Tropicalismo movement to the renewal of Brazilian audiovisual languages beginning in the 1960s. The film revisits a history that involves figures such as Caetano Veloso, Glauber Rocha, and Lina Bo Bardi, bringing together performing arts, ecology, architecture, and sexuality, and blending art and life in the pursuit of a truly Brazilian language.
