About Capitu

Who is Capitu?

CAPITU takes its name from one of the most fascinating and enigmatic figures in Brazilian literature: Capitu from Dom Casmurro, the classic novel by Machado de Assis. Described as having “eyes like the tide” - deep, shifting, and impossible to decipher - she embodies mystery, duality, and the power of interpretation.

Like her, we believe in stories that resist a single truth. The films we champion from the Lusophone world embrace nuance, challenge perspectives, and invite audiences to see beyond the obvious. Inspired by Capitu’s depth, our mission is to bring these stories to the world - making sure they are seen, valued, and understood in all their richness.

We are dedicated to promoting and selling exceptional films from the Lusophone world, taking them beyond borders with a curatorial approach that stays true to our culture while meeting the pulse of the global market.
