Alain, a Belgian filmmaker, stumbles upon a mysterious photograph of Luísa, his former lover, with whom he shared an intense passion seven years ago. Unable to shake the obsession, he returns to Lisbon, only to find that Luísa has disappeared without a trace. A stranger offers to help him, leading him on a dreamlike journey between past and present, in search of answers—and the final scene of the film of his life.
